Biography
Emily Murdock, soprano, made her East Coast professional debut in 2010 as the Dew Fairy in PORTopera’s Hansel and Gretel. Opera News called her performance a “vivid representation that resonated well with the audience.”  This past summer, Emily sang the roles of Amy in Little Women and Adele in Die Fledermaus with Opera in the Ozarks in Arkansas.  Upcoming performances include the role of Bellino in Casanova at Twilight, a musical play premiering in Boulder, Colorado, and soprano soloist in Mahler's Fourth Symphony with the Glacier Symphony in Montana.

Other professional operatic experience include performances with the Boulder Fringe Festival (OperApocalypse), Pine Mountain Music Festival (Carolina, Il Matrimonio Segreto), and Colorado Light Opera (Phyllis, Iolanthe). While a graduate student at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Emily sang many principal roles, including Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia), Adele (Die Fledermaus), and Amor (Orfeo ed Euridice). She also shared the stage with the University of Colorado Orchestra as a winner of CU's Honors Concerto Competition.

Emily has appeared as a soloist with several regional orchestral and choral organizations in the Rocky Mountains. She has also been successful in many multi-round competitions, singing in the National Semi-Finals of the NATS Artist Award recital competition, the National Finals of the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition, and the Regional Round of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

Emily earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and Flute Performance at the University of Montana. She is a native of Whitefish, Montana, and currently resides in Boulder, Colorado.
